It's been 3 years and we're still just as active, if not slightly less, as when we started. No real increase, no real decrease. Starting to think Finalchan needs to be renamed to "Everchan".

Hello there Finalchan,

I've always loved how laid back this imageboard is, (even if it is partially dead in some areas).
I have been somewhat "inspired" and have created my own imageboard, (anonroad.info).
I understand this is somewhat of a shill post and I only ask for honest opinions on the initial setup of the site. I do not wish to blatantly spam-advertise your boards, but to simply say hello.

They're also super small most of the time. I used to check in on a bbs and it maybe had a post once every week or ten days. I know we joke about this place being dead, but it's not nearly as dead as BBSs are. Also I like the anonymity factor, which CAN happen in BBSs but not really in forums.

Agriculture takes a great many resources to be viable as well, and costs more to eat vegan than not.

I greatly dislike most modern animal farming techniques, but growing more plants is not going to change peoples diets or appetites, but lowering the prices on vegan meals might.

In the US farmers are paid to Not grow crops in order to drive up prices and keep the economy at artificial levels, and more importantly to keep it stable. Could you imagine if food prices were at 1/4 or less of the current market value?

I would say we need to fix the way we perceive "wealth" and redirect our goals towards the common good of our society, and no, I am not talking about communism/socialism. I am referring to a mere change in perspective goals as a capitalist nation.

We have the choice to fund our common good under capitalism just as much as we can chose to fund corporate wealth.

The choice is ours, and the future is not yet determined.

I am not vegan by the way.

Interesting choice of spacing in your comment. However, I don't think it is quite optimal or the look you were going for. Why don't you go back to reddit to study their spacing a bit more, since you're obviously such a fan.

I can vouch for searx as well. I run my own instance and it’s awesome not having ads but still getting good search results from a server I control.

Startpage is just google through Startpage's proxy. Searx cross searches many sites.

Yeah, it's hard to get right. And after you read Tolkien, it's very hard for a book to live up to that. I quite like Sanderson's new Stormlight Archive series though. They're long, but have a lot of good things about them. I'd say it's worth checking out the first one (The Way of Kings) from a library and seeing if it's for you.

So I just finished reading Trigger Warning, and it was quite good. The stories are so varied, that some are hits, and some are misses, depending on what you prefer.

There were a number of stories in the collection which I am sure will be recollected at a later date, but I won't be able to remember where I got the stories from. I've never read any of the American God books, but the last story in Trigger Warning has the same protagonist. It doesn't make a difference, because I didn't know that and the story was great.

So yeah, I do recommend at least checking it out. Image is the UK cover.

I have started reading Dune. I never saw the movie or read the book, so this is a new experience for me. I know that the sand worms have become a bit of a cultural reference, but that's about all I really know.

Currently on Chapter 12. It's been quite entertaining once I got used to some of the odd names/races.

 No.9478

Yeah, I had the same problem with The Killing Joke.

What I did instead was buy an e-reader that has the OverDrive service built into it. Now I can digitally "borrow" books form the library. I don't even have to get on a computer or go to the library, the search engine is built into the machine.

Simply search, rent, and read. It's pretty great. It's how I am reading Dune.
