There have been a few posts asking about our privacy policies on Finalchan and here we will attempt to clarify some of them.
Finalchan does not share your data with any third parties. This doesn't mean your data isn't accessible to third parties. Finalchan allows the embedding of videos that are hosted on a number of other sites. Generally, a web browser will connect to those sites directly and in the process send information from your browser. This can be avoided with plugin/addons such as NoScript, PrivacyBadger, Disconnect, etc. and/or modifying your browsers configuration file.
The downside to these tools is that they may also hinder your experience of Finalchan. If you experience issues with streaming video, there is a very good chance that these addons are to blame. For instance, if you are using PrivacyBadger, it will block the sending of HTTP referrers to YouTube. The result is the video will inform you that YouTube does not allow playback on some sites. Disabling PrivacyBadger will play the video normally, but now your information is being sent to Google without the involvement of Finalchan. Many other tools block HTTP referrers, PrivacyBadger is only mentioned above as an example.
Finalchan utilizes analytic software to collect certain data about those who visit. This information includes your IP address, the browser version you were using when you visited the site, and the operating system you were running the browser from. We use this information to make decisions about enhancing the website, troubleshooting issues, and seeing which pages of the website are most accessed. The analytic software is hosted and maintained locally. We do not allow other sites or services access to this information.
IP addresses are used only for blocking troublemakers from the website. They are not aggregated, compiled, or sold to any other service.
We hope that this clarifies some of questions you may have. If there are any other, please feel free to use this board to pose them. Your concerns are of the utmost importPost too long. Click here to view the full text.
