>>463>pre or pos-first exodus?I had no idea 8chan existed for a year prior to all the uproar that happened around September/October 2014.
I liked 8chan at the start of me using it (late 9/2014). HW seemed in tune and active to the community on /meta/. But the thing is, even at its peak, 8chan never gained the traffic of 4chan. It didn't help things got so segregated with everyone making their own board. Now that things have cooled down, its as slow as ever. And I don't know when but it seems sometime over 2015 HW distanced himself with the site.
I don't blame HW or Moot. The chan gets too large, busy, and becomes a headache and liability (both legally and financially). You grow older, your tastes change, and I am sure (at least in Moot's case) you get sick and tired of dealing with whiny, spazzy chucklefucks within the age range of 14 to 24. You start to feel out of touch with the differed, younger userbase that you used to relate to, and realize you don't fit the mold of their narrative anymore. Why remain admin with all these looming factors in your newly arrived adult life? Sell it, bail, take the money, and now it is someone else's problem. The end.
