Alright, so I'm the anon that won the giveaway the other day for post >>1000 and thought I'd make a little post about the game I won called "The Fall"

When I got the game I had an expectation that I would play the game for 5 minutes and then uninstall, however I have to say that this game is actually bringing me along for the ride.

The mechanics are fairly basic, right click to turn on your flash light and explore in front of you. You can find little points where if you focus on them then some text will pop up explaining what that thing is - i.e "it's some kind of switch. There is a slot for a security card" - but also some some explanations of the environment. I doubt this game will be winning awards for innovation in platforming anytime soon, however mechanically it is fun enough.

The real strength of the game is in the storyline, I'm not that far in but you play as the AI inside the combat suit of a pilot and basically it is your job to keep the pilot alive. Without giving away too much of the plot, it is a requirement that you (you being the A.R.I.D AI) never put your pilot in danger, however the combat suit that you play as has basically done an Asimov and reinterpreted it's governing rules to allow it to put the pilot in danger if it means it might keep him alive.

So far, it's prettyfun/10, but I'm not that far into the game and have noticed a coupla annoying things

For those interested, I haven't started wagglin on Mario Galaxy yet, i've been playing Mare Nostrum and Verdun

That's actually not a common thing. I can't remember a game where the main antagonist would have been not a villain of some description, but instead someone with more or less the same goals in mind.

Oh cool. Neat concept.

There is another character in there that is the antagonist

From what I can tell so far, I have been dropped in a graveyard for robots where they are dumped when they become useless, and there is some sort of tester or arbiter that decides if I get to live or die. Because the A.R.I.D system is trying to keep the pilot alive, obviously it won't allow it to happen.

One of the funny things that keeps happening is that Arid does a system report at the start of each level where it recognises that it needs to be terminated due to deliberately putting its pilot in danger, but it then overrides and deletes those logs

I'm pretty interested to see where this goes but I am so far behind on uni work that I won't get to play it for another week or two

Awesome. Just bought the game on Wii U. Excited to play it. I've got a ridiculous backlog, but now that someone on the site is playing it, I'm going to have to jump in and give it a try. I love having someone to talk to about a game in progress.

awesome! Id be interested to see how the controls feel on a console, i think that they might feel a bit smoother. I might even grab out my old 360 controller if theyre good

That's familiar. Don't do this to yourself, man. Whether you actually get any useful knowledge in there or you already knew everything they had to offer, the diploma is what's important. Also doing everything at the last possible moment sucks.

Just being a lazy fag. Knowing it's easy mode sucks, but at least I'm playing video games again, yay.

The dual analog stick is nice. Walk with one, point with the other. The issue I am having with the Wii U version is that the screen will occassional glitch/tear/freeze. It's a huge deal at certain parts. Like in the beginning, when that one creature is dragging the gun around. I walked up on it, and the screen froze for 1 second. Because of this, it appeared that the creature just teleported off the screen. I couldn't figure out what to do next. I walked around the level, inspected everything, tried to move everything I could. after about an hour, I pulled up a walkthrough so I could visually see what actually happened.

The creature jumped form a platform to an area underground. By missing this visual clue, I had no idea that you could even access that area, or needed to find out how to access it.

Aside from that, I am really liking the writing and atmosphere of the game. I like that it didn't take long for them to imply that the computers simple directives allow interpretation, and now you don't know if the suit is protecting you, or killing you.

OP Herr. Forgot I had the game. I remember getting stuck at a certain point but being too stubborn to walkthrough it. Might give it a go again in the next couple of days.

The main game I have been playing is Crusader Kings 2. I haven't touched it since before the Old Gods came out and BOY is it fun being a viking raider. Assuming of course you use Arumba's keyboard shortcut mod, manually embarking and disembarking multiple stacks of raiders is a pain in the arse

I finally decided to pick up Diablo II and play it through this time instead of getting sidetracked after a couple hours. Holy shit it's just as good as everyone says it was, if not even better. I didn't know how much I would like it because I'm not big on multiplayer and a lot of people talk about how fun it is to play coop, but wow singleplayer is great. It's just the right balance of strategy and fun grind for me. I've been playing a barbarian and am about 2/3 through Act I because I play super slow (explore every corner of the overworld, pick up a lot of shit that I probably shouldn't, walk to the free teleporters rather than use my town portals, etc). Any suggestions you guys have? So far I'm just really loving it.

I also have Diablo I and Titan Quest installed and have played a bit of both. D1 has a great atmosphere, but the lack of a run button or a button to see the loot on the floor drives me crazy. Also it's pretty hard, at least where I am (just beat level 2 as the sorcerer). TQ… I mean, it has some nice quality of life stuff, but it seems even more linear and there's not much atmosphere to it.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Any advice or recommendations for other Diablo clones?

play the game again as another role, until you finish the roles. constantly try different play-styles, each one changes up the game in an extreme way. even though there really aren't very many skills in the end, there are endless combinations that you can use with them and it's crazy how much the game changes from each role to another.

Did you ever finish The Fall? I'm the person that bought it on Wii U after you won the game, and the finale was very, very good. Just wanted to check and see if you got to that point.

Do you mean in Diablo 2? Or mixing and matching masteries in TQ?

Im playing a game called INSIDE which is basically the sequel to Limbo.
Its a little boy in a creepy world, with some platforming and puzzles. If you liked Limbo, you'll like this game.

I would like to get a review from you. I have heard good things but then completely forgot about the game.
